Daily Roundup 09/20/10 (summer’s almost over ;_;)

(Abbreviated because 1) abbreviated schedule and 2) we’ve been spending all day putting together the massive awards post you all are gonna love)

West Coast games still in progress

–The Yankees scored eight runs and the middle of the lineup-Teixeira, Rodriguez, Canó went without a hit.
—-Granderson has 7 career multi-homer games, and three have come this year alone.

–A fan in the Philadelphia/Atlanta game ran onto the field and was tackled by Braves’ outfielder Matt Diaz.

–There are only two players this year with 200+ PAs and an OPS+ less than 43, and both are on the Angels: Jeff Mathis and Brandon Wood.
—I’m not going to try to figure out why Mathis gets regular playing time.

–Via @SamMillerOCR: Mariners’ Double-A affiliate in West Tenn has a major-league equivalent line of .225/.283/.334. Mariners: .234/.298/.338.

–Chris Volstad, he of the 4.82 ERA, pitched a CG shutout with just three strike outs. He did throw 118 pitches and had just two walks.
—Pitchers with CGSOs and three or fewer strike outs have happened eight times this year (my grammar stinks), and include, via @tommy_bennett: Braden (1), Maholm (1), and Buchholz (2)

–Livan Hernandez was tagged for eight runs in five innings. Only four of those runs were earned.

–Greinke got tagged for eight hits, six runs and five earned in six innings, and perhaps predictably, lost. His opponent, Porcello had twelve hits and five runs in 5.1 innings and received a no-decision.

–Chris Carter got his first Major League hit.
